‘Gold medals are not really made of gold they are made of sweat, determination and hard to find alloy called Guts.’ The much awaited Annual Sports Day cum parents Day 2017 was held today at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Sen. Sec. School, Udham Singh Nagar Ludhiana with aplomb and enthusiasm. The fantastic turnout of the parents and pleasant weather was the perfect boost for the sparkling tiny athletes. Honourable Members of BVM Trust – Sh. PC Goyal ji (Secretary), Sh. Manoj Gupta ji (Manager), Sh. RK Behal ji (Treasurer), Sh. MM Bamba ji, Sh. RK Gupta ji, Sh. OP Sabharwal ji (Members),Sh. Magat Ram Thakur ji (EO) Mrs. Chander Prabha (Ex Principal of BVM ) were the Special Guests of the auspicious event. Invoking blessings of the Almighty, the sacred lamp was lit which was followed by Saraswati Vandana. ‘Saare Teerath Dham Aapke Charno Mein’, a melodious tribute was offered by Hardik (class V) to Sh. Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar ji the great guru, whose birthday falls tomorrow. Peppy performances by Pre nursery: Activity Dance & Welcome song captured every heart. Little Yoga Gurus giving the message of healthy lifestyle mesmerized all. The Trust Members, Guests and the Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi ji took the salute of the impressive March Past of the little sports stars. The school ‘Sports Flag’ was hoisted by the Trust members .The sacred Sports Torch, symbolizing harmony and goodwill was lit by Deepti Sharma, (National level player of Chess) and Akshat Sood (National level player of Taekwondo). The students entered into the spirit of occasion, as they took the oath administered by Prachi Madaan (District level Chess position holder). Amidst thunderous applause, tricolor balloons were released in the azure sky and the splendid Athletic Meet 2017 was declared ‘Open’ by the Sh. M.M.Bamba ji. Energizing mass P.T., spectacular exercise drill and dumble show set the tone for all the wonderful sports events. Once the athletics: Flat race, Honey bee race, Hurdle race, Cloth peg race, Party race, Ball & hoop race, Monkey mask race and biscuit race and balance race began, the air was filled with cheerings and tons of encouragement for the young athletes by their parents and grandparents. Lively and zealous participation of parents in Tug of war, Paper dress making and Healthy Food Competition was worth appreciating. Fusion of fitness with patriotic hue in the finale dance was much lauded. The winners were awarded with Gold, Silver, Bronze medals. The Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi in her address highlighted the significance of sports as integral part of extracurricular activities. She stressed that sports improve personality and social behavior creating a feel good factor. Every child should spare time for sports to accomplish our national target of ‘Healthy Bharat’. Mirthful activities culminated with the vote of thanks presented by the Principal who declared the meet close. It was followed by Vande Matram.
