BVM (USN) added a new link ‘Art of Parenting and Child Grooming’ to the chain of interactive seminar series being organized since last week in the school auditorium in the morning hours. The session commenced with the formal welcome of the parents of the kindergarten section by Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi. Addressing the young parents, she emphasized on the need to develop a strong teacher-parent bond to ensure the holistic development of the child. Talking about the ancient Guru Shishya parampara, she said, earlier the entire responsibility of the holistic development of the students was solely of the guru, but now it is a shared responsibility of the parents and teachers which can be efficiently handled by ‘hand in hand co-operation of the parents and teachers’. Mrs. Anita Marwaha, Co-ordinator, Shishu Vatika, delved deep on the child psychology. Special focus was on spending quality time with the blooming buds, teaching them new words through visuals and providing congenial and encouraging environment at home and school. A short video, ‘The First Flight’, highlighting the first journey of toddlers from their homes under parental guidance, was really inspirational. Mrs. Jaspreet and Mrs. Inderdeep (teacher) gave tips on how to develop the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing at the initial stage along with the knowledge of phonetics (sounds). The seminar proved to be a great success that was garnered by the prompt participation of the parents followed by their queries resolution.
