Promoting the awareness campaign on Swachata (cleanliness), a special assembly was observed at BVM USN today. The campaign launched by the Honorable Prime Minister on September 11 aims to reinforce ‘Sanitation as everyone's business’ and focuses on ‘Plastic Waste Management’ as its key theme.
Mrs. Seema (PGT Biology) sensitized the budding BVMites with the use of other alternatives to ‘Single use plastic’ as well as encouraged them to undertake Shramdaan (voluntary activities) for cleaning their surroundings. She guided them for the safe disposal of the plastic waste collected thereafter.
To realize the mission of making ‘India- a plastic free Nation’, BVMites contributed their bit by putting up their creativity through awareness posters. Amrit Sharma (V) recited a mindful poem – ‘Polybag-Na-Na-Bhaiya………’ expressing her concern over using low graded plastic and enlightening her schoolmates to shun it completely.
Drawing the attention towards the hazardous effects of ‘Single use plastic’ on the environment and health of all, Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi urged the students to avoid single use plastic as it is the major cause of floods, choked drains and polluted water reservoirs and a constant threat not only to the creatures living on the earth but also in the ocean.
