BVM USN beholds International Literacy Day « 08/Sep/2020

BVM, USN commemorated 'International Literacy Day' to acquaint the beatific BVMites with the significance and relevance of literacy and adult learning in a progressive nation. A concoction of online activities were conducted for the senior classes. Importance of literacy and the role of students in removing illiteracy was highlighted by Avinash (a student of class X) through a poem which was an exemplary piece of art. 'Read-A-Thon' activity was organised for the students of class IX to develop their love and appreciation for reading. It was a fun way to highlight the importance and joy of reading. To build confidence, enhance speaking skills and stimulate  imagination, a  story telling activity was held for the students of class X. The sanguine story tellers came forth with spectacular stories.
 Mrs Kulwinder Gill (TGT English) enlightened students with the significance of the day. She said that literacy is a human right and it is the prime requisite for learning and plays a vital role in restraining population growth, curbing poverty, establishing gender impartiality and a bright promise for growth. Addressing the students Principal, Mrs Bandana Sethi said, "Literacy is a foundation to build a more sustainable future for all. Nowadays it has gained broaden meaning as it channelises people towards awareness to achieve better way of living.
