Morning prayers in a school assembly are the source of energy and vitality for every pupil. They are the sacred threads that bind all the learners of an institution in a unique and essential bond of concentration and focus, required for all learning and acquisition of knowledge. Keeping this intention in mind a three days music workshop was organized at BVM (USN) Ludhiana under the able guidance of Vidya Bharti, New Delhi. The renowned Sangeet Guru ‘Sh. Vishva Ratna ji’, from Vidya Bharti enlightened the teachers of all four branches of BVM with the significance of music for complete and whole development of personality. To quote him,” Out of the four aspects of personality - physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual, music serves as the food for spiritual growth of the soul”. He primarily focused on uniting the students of all institutions running under the aegis of Vidya Bharti in different corners of the country, through one common rhythm of recitation for the morning prayers comprising Saraswati Vandana in Sanskrit and Hindi, Gayatri Mantra and Shanti Paath. The workshop that commenced with Deep Prajawalan by the resource person and honourable members of BVM Trust Sh. O.P.Sabharwal ji (President), Sh.Phool Chand Jain ji (Vice President), Sh. M.M.Vyas ji (Secretary) was followed by the practice sessions of the prayer recitals in unison by the teachers. All the teachers were really enthusiastic in learning the true essence of music through correct usage of sur, laya, bhava and ucchharan of Sanskrit chants and shalokas.
